Cycling with awareness is a priority. The sport of cycling as a leisure past time or an adrenaline rush is a lot more fun when cyclists and motorists understand the safety surrounding a good ride. Part of being a good cyclists is being a safe one. Knowing the rules of the road and how to prepare yourself before a ride will allow you to have a fun and safe ride

1. Equipment Check:
•  Check the chain to make sure it is clean 
and lubricated
• Check your brakes
• Check your tire pressure
2. Always wear a helmet:
If your unsure of how to properly fit your helmet, come to BBC and we will do it for you.
3. Follow the Rules of the Road:
• Ride with the traffic, not against it
• Obey traffic signs and signals
• Yield the right-of-way to pedestrians
• Look behind you when changing lanes
• Ride at least 3 feet away from parked cars in case a door is opened
• When passing other bikers or pedestrians, let them know your position by shouting out something like, ‘On your left!’
4. Use correct hand signals:
To make a left turn: look behind you, hold your left arm straight out and proceed carefully. For a right turn hold you left arm out and up in an ‘L’ shape.
